On our first playlist of the year, we chose a variety of genres to curate a combination of R&B, Hip-Hop, Dance, and upcoming names in Chicago and beyond. The majority of these songs are new releases, and hand-picked for your pleasure. One artist to watch off this playlist is Chicago dance-pop duo DRAMA, who are set to play The Metro with Ric Wilson on April 8th.
Another lesser-known artist on the playlist comes from Detroit-based tape label Young Heavy Souls with the project from Tchad Cousins, aka In Kind, who released the EP From a Star early this year. “Suga” is a breezy and funky bedroom-style Hip-Hop track laid over tight guitars and psychedelic synths, resulting in an ambient and layered production.
Intern Elliott comments on SWISH/USE 2 that “this song showcases FLEE’s amazing ear for atmospheric trap beats, unique voice and lyrics, and potential as an artist. He brings a pretty dope rap verse out of Brent Faiyaz on the track, which was something I didn’t know I needed to hear until I heard it.”
Make sure you follow the Closed Sessions Intern Sounds Spotify playlist, and look out for updates every week on music that you should add to your playlists.
