During my second year at Loyola, I was a participant in a fellowship program with the History Department. The seminar's topic was on Catholicism and American Politics, led by Dr. Elizabeth Tandy Shermer. Throughout my funded research, I explored the impact of 1968 Chicagoan Catholic college students on the birth control restrictions from the Vatican at the time.

At the conclusion of the seminar, I was awarded with an honorary mention for my 24-page research project in which I consulted college newspaper archives for the basis of my work.
